Make and Decorate Chocolate Covered Oreos
It's Oreos' 110th Birthday!
Let's celebrate by learning how to make and decorate Chocolate Covered Oreos!
White Chocolate Oreos decorated with our Birthday Oreo Stencil
This recipe is quick, easy and oh so delicious!
And for a Limited Time, we're offering an Oreo Cookie Decorating Set at a great value!
Ingredients:
1 package Oreo Cookies
Choose any flavor you wish! Stick with regular sized Oreos though, Double Stuf are too thick for the mold.
2 bags (10 oz.) of Ghirardelli Chocolate Melting Wafers
Available in milk chocolate, white/vanilla flavored and dark chocolate. There are other brands of melting chocolate that can also be used, but this is our favorite!
Supplies:
Sandwich Cookie Mold
Microwave-safe bowl
Spoon for mixing
*optional: toppings and decorating supplies (aka, Oreo Stencils)
Steps to Make:
First, empty one bag of melting wafers into a medium microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave on half power for 30-second increments. Stir after each time to prevent overheating. Continue this process until the chocolate has reached a smooth consistency.
*This took us about three rounds in the microwave. Don’t forget to use potholders to get your bowl out of the microwave in case too hot.
Next, start spooning the melted chocolate into each of the five spaces on your mold. Fill each cavity about ¼ of the way.
Then, place one Oreo in the center of each cavity.
Now it’s time to spoon the rest of your melted chocolate on top of the Oreos. You’ll want the chocolate even with the top of the mold.
Gently tap the mold down on your countertop a few times to get rid of any bubbles and to make sure that the chocolate has filled in all around each Oreo.
Finally, place the mold into the refrigerator for about 15 minutes so that the chocolate sets.
Take the mold out of the fridge. Your cookies should be ready to pop out of the mold!
Over your workspace, flip your mold upside down. One at a time, gently push on the bottom of each cookie. You’ll know they’re ready if they pop out easily.
Each mold yields 5 covered Oreos
Now it’s time to decorate!
There are lots of options when it comes to decorating chocolate covered Oreos. You can drizzle on different colors of melted chocolate or royal icing, top them off with sprinkles or chopped nuts, or you can stencil them! This last option is by far our favorite!
Stenciling allows you to customize your Oreos for every Season, Holiday and Special Event!
How to Stencil Chocolate Covered Oreos:
You can use Royal Icing to stencil your covered Oreos. Simply make icing any color you wish!
Then lay the stencil over top of the Oreo and gently scrape icing across the design and voilà, you're done!

Tips:
Once your decorating is complete, you can store Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to about two weeks. For more humid climates, you can also store them in the refrigerator.
